Despite the COVID-19 pandemic exerting some impact on the country's poverty alleviation efforts, China will address the challenges and the reoccurrence of poverty to those who have been lifted out of destitution, Liu Yongfu, head of the Council Leading Group of Poverty Alleviation and Development, said.

国务院扶贫开发领导小组办公室主任刘永富表示，尽管新冠肺炎疫情对中国的扶贫工作产生了一些影响，但中国将应对挑战，防止那些已经脱贫的人再次陷入贫困。

Liu said at a news conference on Monday those who are prone to be stricken by poverty are clearly registered and the will take measures to help them.

刘永富在周一(5月18日)的新闻发布会上表示，那些容易陷入贫困的人都纳入了监测，政府将采取帮扶措施。

Due to the from the pandemic, many people from poverty-stricken families to go out for work as they previously did after the Lantern Festival, which fell on Feb 8 this year.

由于新冠肺炎疫情的影响，许多贫困家庭的人在今年2月8日元宵节后没有像以往那样外出工作。

"As of the end of February, the number of such people who managed to go out of their hometown for work was only 40 of records in years," Liu said at a news conference organized by the State Council Office on Monday.

周一(5月18日)，刘永富在国务院新闻办公室组织的新闻发布会上说：“截止到2月底，贫困人口外出务工的只有往年的40%。”

He said, however, following consistent efforts by the government, the number has now reached 95 percent, almost the for the same time last year.

He said his office "is clearly of" the people who may fall back into poverty and those on the brink of poverty and will take measures to help them.

The office has identified another 380,000 people prone to be stricken by or fall back into poverty so far this year. These people, with the multiple millions of people found last year, have been included in the office's monitoring, he said.
